Kunzite statement ring in platinum
My love of pink was indulged during this commission. This large oval Kunzite was the spring-board for a simple, no-frills, whopper of a ring.
The clients wanted to celebrate a milestone anniversary, with a unique ring. We offered a number of design solutions and the customers chose this fluid, sweeping form, which cupped the gem securely, whilst leaving it visible from all angles. We wanted the split shoulders to appear to be ‘growing’ up over the stone.
Kunzite is a lesser-used gem for jewellery. The pink shades vary from very watery pale pink, through to more vibrant lilacs. It has perfect cleavage; making it sensitive to pressure, so care has to be taken whilst setting. It’s a semi-precious gem, but big, colour-rich specimens like this, still command high prices.
