Tanzanite topaz and diamond brooch
This commission was created to be worn for a specific event. The Imperial topaz and lavender blue tanzanite were both chosen for their rich colours. We decided that 18ct yellow gold would be a great medium for the stones and we further embellished the fluid curve with a row of E VVS brilliant cut diamonds. We wanted the oval faceted stones to get as much light as possible to them, so that their contrasting colours popped and looked almost luminous. With this in mind, we set the feature gems in four claws. The diamonds were pave set in a tight line. It’s possible to set diamonds down into gold, like this, as diamonds do not actually need to receive any light beneath them. This is true, if the diamond is well faceted. All light received and emitted from a diamond comes from the top. Light enters the stone and is reflected off the internal facets, bouncing back out to twinkle.
We pride ourselves in great and original design. We listen to our clients and offer them varied and unique suggestions for their personal requirements. This tanzanite, topaz and diamond brooch was a bespoke design, to be worn as a bar brooch. But I think that it would work equally well worn vertically, down the lapel of a jacket.
Brooches are making a come-back. Brooches were commonly worn in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, but gradually became a less popular item of jewellery. Their re-emergence has sparked a flurry of great designers to create imaginative and sometimes outlandish pieces. We have created designs with insects and animals featuring large and vivid gemstones; real statement pieces, as a focus to a whole ensemble.
Our design training and decades of experience give us the edge against many of our competitors. Our friendly and personal approach mean easy communication, which in-turn helps to develop each jewellery concept to its fullest potential.
